The complete features of the camera are not yet available, but a leaked video may give us a glimpse on the much-anticipated Hero 5. Here's what is currently known about GoPro Hero 5 release date, specs and rumors. Business Insider

GoPro recently stopped developing entry-level sports camera, leaving buyers to choose from just three models. The range now consists of the top-spec Hero4 Black, mid-range Hero4 Silver and Hero Session. Now, we'll give you the details about their differences and which is the best regarding video quality and functionality.

GoPro Hero Session

Let's start with the cheapest model in the lineup. GoPro Hero Session is available at Currys for $230.  This sports camera is the first from GoPro that is not rectangular. It has cube-shaped body. Performance-wise, the Session can record videos at 1440p. It can also shoot 60fps at 1080p, or 100fps at 720p.

However, the Session does not have a time-lapse video, but it has support for time-lapse photos.

It is also waterproof without a case, which means users can record videos with better sound. The top models -- Hero4 Silver and Hero4 Black - have a waterproof casing that decreases the quality of the microphone.

Also, the Session has two microphones. On the down side, it lacks viewfinder screen and has poorer video quality than other GoPro cameras.

GoPro Hero4 Silver

Compare to the Session; the Hero4 Silver can record high-quality videos. It can shoot 12Mp photos and 2.7K video at up to 30fps. In addition, it offers 1440p footage at up to 48fps or 60fps in 1080p. By dropping the pixels to 720p, users can shoot slo-mo videos at 120fps.

The Silver also sports touch screen display to frame pictures accurately.  Moreover, it has built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. This amazing camera is protected with a standard waterproof housing, which is great to depths of 131 feet.

Interested buyers can get Hero4 Silver Edition action camera for $269, plus $12 for shipping at eBay. This model usually retails for $399.99 and sells elsewhere for at least $329. A report from CNET said the promo is for a limited time only so hurry up now.

The Hero4 Black

The Black is the best camera of GoPro. It has a faster processor and can shoot images in higher resolution or higher frame rates. Its best image quality is at 60Mb/s bitrate. Also, it is capable of recording 4k videos.

Users can also get a cinema-like 24fps in 4K Superview mode. With its range of video modes, the Hero4 Black is considered as the top choice for professionals. This high-end sports camera is at $499.

With that being said, the outlying Hero4 Session might not be an ideal camera, but it has great features at an affordable price. GoPro significantly dropped the device's price since its initial release.

On the other hand, for those who are looking for professional features, the Hero4 Black is the best.
