Will Disney's Big Hero 6 be getting a sequel titled Big Hero 7? Rumors hint at that possibility, though the release date has not been confirmed. Meanwhile, an emerging theory suggests one new cast member added to the Big Hero 6 character lineup.

Before continuing reading, please be aware there are Big Hero 6 spoilers ahead.

Big Hero 6 Sequel Confirmed?

According to the Toronto Sun, Marvel's executive producer Stan Lee may have spilled the beans on a possible production cycle for Big Hero 6.

"After Ant-Man, we're going to start playing around with Doctor Strange, the Black Panther, the Inhumans, and then we have to come back for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Big Hero 6, the Avengers, Captain America," Lee had stated.

The legendary comic book creator was speaking at an event promoting Marvel-inspired Gillette razors. It is unclear when production will start for the fabled Big Hero 6 sequel. Even so, the latest clue from Stan Lee suggests that work may begin after two or three more Marvel films are made.

Admittedly, Disney is developing quite a reputation for reviving obscure titles from the Marvel franchise. Big Hero 6 and Guardians of the Galaxy are the two latest examples of this trend. So far, Disney's gamble has been paying off. The two features have respectively made $56.2 million and $219.3 million at this time.

Surefire May Debut in 'Big Hero 7'

Those who have watched Big Hero 6 will recall the heart wrenching scene when Tadashi was killed while attempting to save Professor Callaghan. This action inspires Tadashi's college buddies and younger brother Hiro to start the Big Hero team.

Blogger Jon Negroni has raised the possibility that Tadashi not only survived, but will be returning as the iconic Surefire. This longtime Marvel superhero is a Japanese mutant with the ability to project flames by absorbing heat. Surefire was also a founding member of Big Hero 6 in the original comic book incarnation.

Negroni's theory suggests that since Tadashi died in a burning building, the character will be reborn as Surefire. Also, the hero may eventually become the seventh member of the Big Hero team. If this is true, the sequel may be titled Big Hero 7. Still, it remains to be seen if this theory will pan out.

According to Variety, Big Hero 6 is leading home video sales after its DVD and Blu-ray release in March. The Walt Disney film has outperformed adult-oriented features such as Horrible Bosses 2, Sons of Anarchy Final Season, and Games of Thrones Season Four.
