April 22, 2004, Billy Ray Cyrus will be on hand at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas to help The Army welcome back the troops from Iraq. Cyrus (the star of music and film, also known as an avid supporter of the U.S. servicemen/veterans), will take part in the opening ceremonies that will honor the returning troops of the 4th Infantry Division and the supporting units of Task Force Iron Horse who have accomplished so much to secure peace including the capture of Saddam Hussein. Over 100,000 are expected to attend over the course of the day.

Cyrus plans include performing "Some Gave All," his touching song about sacrificing to help your fellow man, and "We The People," his song that was used by the Bush campaign committee during the first election. After the opening ceremony Cyrus will perform several selections from The Other Side, his new gospel CD on Word Records that was recently nominated for a Dove Award.

An on-site autograph session is also planned where the troops and their families can meet Cyrus and get autographed copies of The Other Side and also "Doc" The First Season on DVD. "Doc" is Cyrus' #1 television series, in its fourth season on Pax TV. Also on the bill at Ft. Hood along with Cyrus and others to be announced is Lynyrd Skynyrd who just happen to be one of his favorite bands of all time.

Cyrus says, "I am honored to take part in this event that honors these amazingly brave and accomplished men and women who have sacrificed so much over the past couple of years to protect our freedoms and keep us safe. And my thanks go out also to the supportive families and friends, who will be on hand that day, of the soldiers who have truly given their all and then some for us. Adding to their special day at Ft. Hood is the least I can do, and I am looking forward to helping make this a celebration of thanks, remembrance and enjoyment for all involved."
