Season 3 of the American crime drama television series The Blacklist will premiere on September 24 and this early, rumors have been flying the next installment will provide more insight into the relationship between main characters Raymond Reddington (James Spader) and Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone).

In the Season 2 final episode, Keen fled with Red after he cut of the power at the FBI headquarters and arranged for her rescue by director Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix). Keen was interrogated by the FBI following the assassination of a U.S. Senator and to ask about her Russian birth as well as her real name, Masha Rostova. 

Liz then joins up with Tom as they go after a Russian spy named Andropov, but men from the Cabal kill Andropov before the two can get to him.  Tom and Liz admit their feelings to each other and end up spending a night together romantically.

Boone promises that The Blacklist Season 3 will be a lot different from the last season. She hinted of a blooming relationship between her character and Red.

She told Zap2it, "Season 3 is going to be the same characters but a different show, a very different dynamic. It is going to change."

Boone provide a hint of the relationship between Liz and Red, "I think people see how much Red loves her, and it is a confusing kind of love. I think that will have to be answered. How do you love someone that deeply -- no matter what the circumstances, but especially when the circumstances are mysterious?"

"I think she loves him," Boone said and added, "But I don't think there are romantic feelings. ... I don't necessarily think it's a [romantic] love story between Liz and Reddington, even though there are people out there that really feel that's what they want."

Boone also provided some details about the break-up of the task force following the decision of Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) to place Keen on the FBI's Most Wanted list and remove director Cooper from his position. "If you break open the entire task force, then it will be challenging to try to find the procedural aspect of the show again. With 22 episodes a year, it does benefit the show to have some kind of a formula ... but we are going to sort of break open a lot of the structure of the show," she said.

The Blacklist executive producer Jon Bokenkamp said Red was devastated that Liz has finally remember the horrible night she killed her father to protect her mom when she was still a child. Red has been trying to suppress that memory to protect Liz. The revelation has affected his emotions negatively.

Bokenkamp told The Hollywood Reporter, "The image of Liz's wanted poster going up next to Reddington's wanted poster is something we've talked about for a long time and one of those signpost moments in the series that we knew we wanted to hit."

He went on to say, "Red is heartbroken that, [despite] everything he's tried to do in this season to protect her from this horrible truth, she has discovered it," and added Red is filled with emotions that he failed Liz "[This storyline] opens and takes us into a new chapter where she is no longer just an FBI agent - they have a real journey that they're about to go on. They're entering the third season as fugitives."
