Latest Update on Bobbi Kristina Brown: Whitney Houston's Daughter a Drug Addict by 14, Book Alleges

Bobbi Kristina Brown was reportedly addicted to drugs by age 14, according to a recent unauthorized biography by author Ian Halperin. Titled "Whitney & Bobbi Kristina: The Deadly Price of Fame", the book alleges that the daughter of singer Whitney Houston was raised in a drug-fueled environment. Both Houston and her acting, singing husband Bobby Brown were longtime drug users.

NY Daily News reported that Bobbi Kristina was committed to a psychiatric hospital after attempting to stab her mother before slashing her own wrists. The source of this information comes from distant-relative of the Browns, Ann Davis.

Halperin wrote that because Houston was already struggling with addiction, she was unable to parent Bobbi. Mother and daughter were apparently always at odds with each other. Throughout her troubled upbringing, Bobbi exhibited behavior that Halperin deemed wild.

A friend sold photos showing Bobbi snorting cocaine at two separate parties. Whitney promptly sent Bobbi to rehab.

"The crowd she hung out with was out of control," another one of Bobbi's friends recounted to Halperin. "The past couple of years she hung with a bunch of crazies, they were wild and reckless."

Now 22-years-old, Bobbi remains in an unresponsive state. The family attorney Christopher Brown told The Inquisitr that she will live a long life, but faces uncertainty in regards to quality of life.

Her grandmother Cissy Houston told a similar story, stating that Brown had "global irreversible brain damage" and is "not progressing at all".

"We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time," Cissy told reporters.

Houston-Brown Tragedy Timeline

Houston herself died in 2012 at age 48 after having drowned in a bathtub filled with water. The Los Angeles County coroner ruled that the drowning was accidental, but also said that drugs and heart disease contributed to the incident.

In late January this year, Brown was found face down in a water-filled bathtub at her Georgia home in Rosswell. She was still breathing, and was rushed to the North Fulton Hospital. There she was placed in a medically-induced coma. A month later, she was moved to Emory University Hospital where she was kept on a ventilator.

The circumstances behind Brown's drowning remain a mystery. Investigators ruled out drugs as a contributing factor.

So far, one dominant theory suggests Bobbi attempted suicide. Halperin instead put out the hypothesis that Brown was the victim of a misguided attempt to revive her. Known as "the plunge" in drug-abusing culture, this practice involves addicts trying to wake up an unconscious addict by dunking the individual in cold water.

Brown did not wake up until March. She is currently the heir to an estimated $20 million fortune. Though Whitney was in debt when she died, demand for her music soared. Brown received the first 10 percent of that fortune on her 21st birthday in 2014. She received another installment in March this year.
