Canada is a country with vast land by few in population. The Chinese immigrants who moved to Canada are mostly scattered within different cities and towns. Due to the distance which they live from the urban sectors, the Chinese population there are deprived of the abundant spiritual grace shared in Christ. Therefore, evangelism and shepherding has become an urgent work in this field.

Chinese Christian Missions of Canada (CCM) noticed this necessity and have assigned mission workers to specialize in spreading the gospel and the love of Christ to the people in small towns. The missionaries have contacted with the churches in large urban sectors and recruit and train local believers and workers to form mission teams to circle the nearby towns regularly and spread the Word of God. Also, they have formed family fellowship and discipleship leaders to help further advance the mission work and to shepherd the new and old generations of believers.

To help the town evangelism to be more effective, CCM started to schedule periodic visits, set up vocational lectures, and encourage individual evangelism and other programs. CCM holds on to the verse “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.” (Matthew 9:35) Three to four people formed into one mission team with full efforts preaching in nearby towns, and for the whole year they will periodically visit the towns and form a large mission network. In addition, missions workers of certain profession such as doctors, nurse, pharmacist, lawyers, teachers, social workers, etc. were recruited to give vocational lectures to help the Chinese community with their help, family life, work, and other areas of life. Also during and after the lectures the speakers will share their faith and personal testimony.

This year, the town evangelism will open in six Canadian provinces: British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Each month teams will be assigned and dispatched. CCM hopes that through town evangelism that the Chinese community that is spread among the various towns of Canada may be able to form the life of family church and fellowship and allow them to shepherd among themselves, bathed in the grace of the gospel. At the same time, they hope that more Chinese churches and ministries may share this same vision and participate in their mission work.
