Last week. the Chinese Church in Christ (CCIC) held a joint summer camp in San Jose and South Valley on June 24th to 26th. This was the first three day summer camp arranged by CCIC; total of 80 attendants participated in the event.

The initiative for organizing the summer camp begun last year when the joint committee of CCIC came together and approved for the project. The process of co-working and cooperation that it took to prepare for the event has been the most rewarding experience for Rev. Wai-Wing Chan, Minister of Cantonese ministry CCIC San Jose. "This is the first time co-working for many of us. I thank God for the beautiful cooperation for the staffs of different churches in the process arrange this event." Said Rev. Chan after the event.

The theme "Launch out into the deep." was led by Rev. Chan and Rev. Johnny Wong, who led the camp held in South Valley. In Rev. Wong's sermon he questioned if believers truly know their goals. He identified everyone as being in the shallow water, and that there is a need to move forward in life. He went forth to explain how the theme applies to daily practices in areas of spirituality, family relationships, and support for missions. He believes that going into the deep does not merely amount to doing something grand, but to improve in the small areas of life such as ministry, family and career.

Other camp activities include book devotion time and camp fire.

Rev. Chan commented that the first summer camp has been a great success; everyone was united in focus to the scriptures and fellowship in Christ. He said he looks forward to the second summer camp next year.
