Dr. Kevin Yao of the China Graduate School of Theology (CGST) will speak at three churches in California on August 5-7 as a way to introduce the Chinese Christian perspective on the developments in China as well the church dilemmas in China's changing religious and social states.
Dr. Kevin Xi Yi Yao, a native of Beijing, China, received his masters in history in Nan Kai University located in Tian Jing. He worked in Beijing at the Chinese Academy of Social Science Institute of World Religions. In 2003, he joined the China Graduate School of Theology as faculty and researcher.
The purpose of the seminar is to attract Chinese intellectuals and foreign exchange students, many of whom are often non-believers. CGST hopes that through Dr. Yao many will be able to relate to his experiences and his faith.
The Golden Gate Christian Reformed Church, 5th Home of Christ Church in Cupertino, and Lord’s Grace Christian Church are the three churches that are cooperating with CGST and will provide their establishment for Dr. Yao to deliver his lectures.
"We want to share a gospel-like testimony that will reach out to mainland Chinese from the Chinese perspective", said CGST coordinator Tony Yip. He commented that this will be possible through Dr. Yao's lectures.
