The 2016 Corvette Stingray will be the seventh generation, and it will also be the next generation of the Corvette Z06 high performance models.  It is believed that it will be sold under the name of 2016 Corvette Stingray Z07.  The new 2016 Corvette Stingray is already on back order at the automaker's Bowling Green plant, and this is what we know of the Chevrolet Corvette 2016 Z06 or 2016 Corvette Stingray Z07 Release Date, Specs, and Price.

According to ReleaseDate 2016 Cars, there will not be a generation ZR1, and it will have Brembo carbon ceramic brakes as well as some Michelin tires that are larger than its predecessors.  The engine will be the General Motors small block V-8 that will open two valves per cylinder with the addition of direct injection.  The Z07 can deliver about 600 horsepower from displacement that is fewer than 6.2 liters.  This engine will also feature new combustion chambers and variable cam timing, and this is an eight-speed automatic transmission.

As for the exterior, 2016 Release Cars states that the coupe's body will be made of lightweight aluminum, with some carbon-fiber elements.  For the interior, this 2016 Chevy Corvette is "expected to be focused on the driver".  There will be a Nappa leather-wrapped interior and two color screens.  One screen will be located behind the steering wheel used like a heads-up display, and the other will be positioned above the center console used to control the MyLink infotainment system.  Also included for the driver is an industry-first Performance Data Recorder (PDR) that enables users to record high-definition video, along with telemetry overlays of their driving experiences on and off the track.

Chevy Corvette reveals that there will be a C7.R Edition that will pay tribute to the Corvette Racing C7.R racecars with only 500 being built.  Some of the specs change for this edition like a supercharged 650 horsepower LT4 V8 engine, available 8-speed automatic transmission, faster lap times than the C6 Corvette ZR1, as well as the Z07 Performance Package.

Here's what's new in general for this 2016 Edition of the Chevrolet Corvette:  a carbon fiber hood option with a visible weave section, 3LZ trim, a new "blade" accessory wheel, available two-tone GT seats (red or gray), red or yellow stitching option, power-cinch feature for coupe hatch and convertible trunk latches, as well as a front curb view parking camera (for the 2LZ/3LZ trims).  There will also be three different design packages including Twilight Blue, Spice Red, and Jet Black.

This leads to the final category which will probably be a deal-breaker for most people is the price.  This year's Z06 was about $78,995, but the Z07, assuming that it will be called this, will reportedly be above the $100,000 price range.  As for the release date, all I could get was "sometime before the end of the year".
