China is known as one of the fastest growing mission fields today, however with the rise of number of believers, concerns over spiritual guidance and correct biblical learning also grew. Mission groups are constantly looking for new methods to provide specialize training for the needed believers.
Recently a team from China Partner finished a one-week training at the newly established Christian Counseling Center in Nanjing, China. The team was prepared to be teachers and leaders for the new wave of young believing generation and churches.
Eric Burklin, President of China Partner, explains that growing churches are discovering problems in areas of family counseling.
"Due to the enormous and fast growth of the Christian church in China, so far, not enough emphasis has been directed to such needs as found in marriages and families." Burklin said.
The church, however, is not ready to deal with the many issues to be addressed. Young leaders and pastors are emerging, yet many are not theologically educated or prepared to minister to the rapidly growing believers. In addition, many ministry positions are being vacated due to aging of the older generation of pastors.
Burklin believes that the young generation should be trained to meet the demands that faith in China today. "Young emerging Christian leaders and pastors have to be trained to take on the ministry responsibilities being vacated by older pastors." He said.
China Partner Inc. dedicates its ministry work to help churches in China and fulfill the great commission. Through opened collaboration with the government-recognized church leadership in China, China Partner has sent teams to establish Pastoral Training Schools and lecture at various seminaries across the nation.
