After the enshrinement of protection of human rights in the Constitution, China authorized its first book on human rights to be published in the country. The book, titled “China’s Human Rights in Action”, is written by the China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS), the largest non-governmental organization (NGO) in the nation.

Dealing with human rights issues, CSHRS addresses past and current events including both achievements and violations of human rights in China.

For instance, it reports the efforts of Premier Wen Jiabao who committed himself to recover payments due to rural workers. And on the other hand, it also addressed the case of Sun Zhigang who was detained, beaten and abused to death, in Guangzhou Police Holding Center for having no ID on him in March, 2003.

Through such reports, CSHRS scholars said that this book will keep officials informed and citizens aware of their current renewed rights.
