From July 8 through 25, 2005, the Short-Term Mission (STM) group from Chinese Christian Mission (CCM) is embarking on yet another trip to Macao for missions. Since their previous experience in Macao during 2002, 2003 and 2004, they bring with them an even deeper passion for the un-reached souls on the other side of the world.
For $570 per person including airfare, the public is welcome to apply to join this annual event preferably before the twentieth of March, 2005. The mission program features a variety of activities such as educational classes including English, Science, Craft and Cooking lessons from Monday to Saturday. In addition, STM will host youth activities and visitations but more importantly, personal evangelism and street evangelism are to be practiced. (Detailed information is available on their official website, www.ccmusa.org.)
Through this trip, STM aims to bring the Gospel to students from 3rd to 12th grade who are living in the low-income area of North Macao. By teaching them English, crafts, science and cooking classes, the team members hope to build relationships with the students and thus open the door for evangelism.
Testifying of the great work that God has been doing, Macao STM leader, Kitty Ma, urges more people to join this spiritual expedition so that blessings may flow through them and to them. Another member who took part in 2004’s Macao STM expressed the urgency and the need for the Gospel to be preached in Macao; “Everyday, as I walk from the apartment to the learning center with my team, I could not ignore the lost souls that linger by the gambling stations and people that burn incense to idols that they do not comprehend. I could sense a surge of fear, insecurity and hopelessness among the people.”
With only 0.5% Christianity, Macao is an Eastern Asian country with much room for development. It is a country in great need to hear the Word of God. By faith, STM is initiating the first steps to open the history of God in Macao. Nevertheless, as they sowed in tears, they shall surely reap with joy. Through their testimonies, it is apparent that years of diligence in Macao has proven fruitful for lives have been touched and changed, salvation acknowledged and received, and spirits revived and ignited with the fire for God’s word. Macao has a new hope and a great future planned by the hands of God.
