A South Korean Christian relief body will ship 5 billion won ($4.1 million) worth of medical supplies today to North Korea from the western port of Inchon, the group said yesterday.
The body, affiliated with Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, said the shipment is part of a $10 million pledge it made to the North's Asia-Pacific Peace Committee in November last year to treat tuberculosis patients in the North.
The body will also send 50 tons of high-performance fertilizer to the North along the shipment. The North will use the fertilizer, known as ``Zeta,’’ for experimental crop cultivation.
The group has sent 500 million won worth of goods, including greenhouse vinyl and fertilizer, in aid to the North this year.
