Christian College students boycott classes

The indifferent attitude of the college authorities forced them to adopt boycotting of the classes..

Lucknow, India., Nov. 15 - Classes were boycotted at the Christian Degree College last Thursday by a large number of students claiming non-fulfilment of demands accepted earlier. Led by the students union president Fakrul Hasan Chand, the students boycotted the classes since the morning. Demanding better canteen, toilet, library and sports facilities, the students boycotted the classes despite the intervention of the authorities.

They were demanding opening of a proper canteen for the benefit of students. The students were also asking for better toilet facilities.

Fakrul Hassan Chand claimed that the demand for canteen and toilet was long pending with the college authorities and no heed was paid to them by the powers that be. The students also raised the demand of a sportsroom and asked for better sports facilities in the college.

Students also objected to the shifting of the post-graduate classes to the second campus of the college. The students claimed that these demands were long pending with the college authorities with no action being initiated by them. They claimed that the demands were also accepted by the authorities but subsequently no action was taken. They claimed that the indifferent attitude of the college authorities forced them to adopt boycotting of the classes.

The principal, meanwhile, formed a committee to look into the demands. Fakrul Hassan Chand claimed that the students would continue boycotting the classes till some concrete action was taken. Giving an ultimatum to the college authorities, the students claimed that their agitation would continue till their demands were accepted and acted upon.
