Russia - In current developments, the Association of Christian Schools International is providing much needed assistance to Christian schools operating in the former Soviet Republic. ACSI is now attempting to raise funds to equip and train the staff at the Christian schools well. In aiding these schools, ACSI hopes that Russia’s youth will be grow witnessing and feeling the love of God, and continually growing in Christ.

Records show that since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1992, there are no less than 80 schools of varying denominational affiliation operating in former Soviet territories including the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan.

ACSI worker, Dan Egler sees aiding local Christian schools in Russia as a great way to expand missions into Russia. Egler commented, "There's…open doors to truly make a difference in the society that God had been stripped clean [from] for over 70 years; (and) now we have a chance to shape the hearts and minds of the next generation of young people there in the former Soviet Union.”

Given that the local Christian schools often suffers from lack of funding, under trained and overworked staff members, and worsening economical and political conditions, it is truly a miracle of God that they are still standing. So, ACSI hopes to reinforce and encourage these workers of God in hopes of bringing the hope and love of Christ to the lost country.
