A Christian village leader who was kidnapped in central Nigeria has been found dead, raising concerns about ongoing violence against Christian communities in the region.
On March 11, armed assailants raided the predominantly Christian village of Dnako in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during a midnight raid and abducted village leader Yuda Garba at gunpoint. According to CP(Christian Post), the attackers, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, also kidnapped his grandsons, Ephraim and Philemon, along with another Christian man named Nicholas and three other villagers.
On March 17, Garba’s body was discovered near Kuyeri, a forested area in the Kagarko Local Government Area bordering Kaduna State. According to CP, family members identified the body, and security personnel have intensified search efforts for the remaining victims.
This incident highlights the persistent violence targeting Christian communities in Nigeria. According to CP, local leaders and human rights groups have urged the government to take stronger action to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of vulnerable communities.
While the Nigerian government has made efforts to address these security challenges, the continued rise in such incidents signals the need for greater international support and intervention.
The Christian community mourns the loss of Yuda Garba, and prayers continue for the safe return of the remaining hostages.
