An evangelical Christian charity is going to host a seminar on how Hong Kong Christians and churches can respond to integral mission.
According to the Hong Kong-based Cedar Fund, the seminar with the theme "A Life of Integral Mission- Integral Mission and Church" will be held on Jan. 13 at Sino Cheer Plaza, Kowloon. It is co-hosted by the China Graduate School of Theology.
The keynote speakers are Rev. CB Samuel and Rev. Wu Chi Wai. Rev. CB Samuel is the former general director of Evangelical Fellowship of India Commission on Relief (EFICOR) in India, now he serves as the chairman of Prabaav, network of Indian Christian organizations in social concern. He also lectures at the Oxford Centre of Mission Studies (OCMS) in England.
Rev Wu Chi Wai is the CEO of Hong Kong Church Renewal Movement (HKCRM), which represents a wide spectrum of evangelical leaders who are committed to work together for the renewal of Hong Kong churches as well as their prophetic role in the society.
The major work of HKCRM includes serving and supporting pastors for their growth and ministry; offering guidance to churches for healthy church building; conducting nationwide census to keep track of the trends and development of Hong Kong churches.
Inspired by the Micah Network declaration on Integral Mission in 2001, Hong Kong Christians will meet together to explore how is integral mission working out worldwide and how should believers respond to this calling.
"Integral mission is the proclamation and demonstration of the gospel. If we ignore the world we betray the word of God which sends us out to serve the world. If we ignore the word of God we have nothing to bring to the world," stated the Micah Network declaration on Integral Mission in 2001.
The Micah Network, founded in 1999, is a group of over 275 Christian relief, development and justice organizations from 74 countries with a strong representation of the Southern Hemisphere. It holds on the Church’s mission to proclaim and demonstrate the love of Christ to a world in need, advocating a biblically-shaped response to the needs of the poor and oppressed.
The Micah Network has been collaborating with the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) to create "Micah Challenge," a global campaign to mobilize Christians against poverty. The campaign has received tremendous support from Christians worldwide and has presented a strong Christian voice to the world’s leadership in eliminating global poverty.
This time the seminar will closely follow the regional consultation of Micah Network for North and East Asia, which is to be held from Jan. 9- 13 in Hong Kong also.
