Jesus Day and March for Jesus is a worldwide event that will take place on May 29 this year. The theme for 2004 is “Walk the way. Believe the truth. Live the life.”

“ ‘Marches for Jesus’ have become a permanent tool for the toolkit of the citywide church and bring together the Body of Christ across denominational and racial barriers. Through March for Jesus and Jesus Day we see an answer to

Jesus’ prayer for unity among His followers in John 17,” said John Dawson, International President of Youth With A Mission (YWAM).

A new CD, For His Glory, featuring music written especially for Jesus Day and March for Jesus will be available has background music to the march or to prayer.

March for Jesus has roots in England after an overwhelming crowd of 15,000 showed up for a prayer a praise march in London during May of 1987, organized by Ichthus Fellowship in London, Youth With A Mission, and Pioneer Team. The following year drew a crowd of 55,000 participants. In 1989, the name “March for Jesus” was coined and 45 cities across Great Britain took part in the event.

Currently, March for Jesus is celebrated every Saturday before Pentecost in more than 130 nations and with millions participating each year.

Jesus Day was first held on June 10, 2000 in 450 cities across the United States. It emerged as a day Christians crossed racial and denominational lines to serve in their community and worship the Lord in the streets. It is celebrated in collaboration with March for Jesus. Last year, the theme for March for Jesus was "Peace be to these streets" and held on June 7.
