For Christians, Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year -- because it celebrates the birth of Christ, the Savior of the world. As you send out Christmas cards this year, add a Scripture or two to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the recipients of each card and remind them of the true reason we celebrate this special holiday. The Gospel Herald has compiled ten Bible verses to help us celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." [Isaiah 9:6]

  2. "Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men." [Philippians 2:5-7]

  3. "Saying, "Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him."" [Matthew 2:2]

  4. "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." [Romans 6:23]

  5. "But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life." [Titus 3:4-7]

  6. "And the angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy--the Son of God."" [Luke 1:35]

  7. "But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days." [Micah 5:2]

  8. "Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me."" [John 8:42]

  9. "May all kings fall down before him, all nations serve him!" [Psalm 72:11]

  10. "And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them." [Luke 2:20]
