The Church Interpreter Training Institute (CITI) of Concordia Theological Seminary is planning to hold a two-week program on the seminary campus from June 20-July 2, 2004, with the purpose to train people to be able to interpret church services and other religious events into sign language for the deaf.
CITI will offer courses on various topics such as Religious Signing; ASL; Interpreting Scriptures, Gospels and Sermons; Music; Deaf Culture; and Bible Study.
As variety of Death and Interpreted Church services are available throughout the For Wayne area, opportunities to interpret will be provided for the students during chapel, evening devotions, and class.
Concordia described CITI as “an experience that is hard to describe.” It said:
“The time for personal growth in the Word, life-long friendships to be made, and most importantly, learning to share the Gospel with the Deaf.”
