Clash of Clans popularity seems to be continuing without stopping. Not surprisingly, a huge fanbase has grown considerably around this game. Here are two developments concerning Clash of Clans that are worth noting.

April Fools Jokes Do Not Go Unnoticed at Supercell

Not surprisingly, jokes abounded on April Fool's Day when fans began posting videos on YouTube complete with gags poking fun at the intricacies of Clash of Clans.

On Wednesday, April 1, three pranks did not go unnoticed by Clash of Clans developer Supercell. Happily, the staff did not seem to take the jokes too seriously - even posting links to the works of the pranksters. 

The first joke revolved around Archer Queen. Those familiar with the character will know that Archer Queen fires on walls shortly after shooting a few arrows at target buildings. On April Fool's, a YouTuber posted a tongue-in-cheek video showing a "reworked" Archer Queen that purposefully fires on walls while ignoring other more important targets. The same poster jokingly stated that Supercell has decided that the queen will be best used as a "wall buster."

Another YouTuber posted a faux video footage of Clash of Clans player Peter17$ destroying gem boxes with lightning. Ultimately Peter17$ gets a message stating that he is "banned" for winning Clash of Clans. A number of individuals in the comments section were quick to point out that the video was edited and that Peter17$ did not truly get banned.

The third prank of the day involved an image of a mysterious third Hero altar posted on the official Clash of Clans Facebook page. Clash of Clans Forum member Wanted31 posted a photo of the object that later turned out to be a hoax. Wanted31 later commented, "Fooled us all."

Clash of Clans May Have New Rival

Since debuting in 2014, the game has already netted in considerable earnings for Supercell. On April 2, Asian game developer Nexon released DomiNations in a bid to unseat Supercell's number one spot on the mobile apps game chart.

Following in a similar base-building style of gameplay, DomiNation has players controlling historical civilizations in a bid to dominate the world. Whereas Clash of Clans is centered around a fantasy theme, Domination is focused on alternate reality in the same vein as the Civilization series.

Players have their choice of playing as the British, Chinese, Germans, French, Romans, Japanese and Greeks. Each civilization has its own intricacies. For instance, the British are more successful at imperialism while the Chinese are able to sustain larger populations. Responsibilities include food and economy management.
