Whenever there is a hit, there always will be an inevitable follow-up. In the case of Supercell, their massive hit mobile game Clash of Clans has given the company enough revenue and success to put out a follow-up with Clash Royale. Unlike Clash of Clans, Clash Royale is something completely different from Supercell's game, but its limited release has left many wondering when it will be released in the United States, as well as on Google Play.

According to Gadgets 360, Clash Royale is a card dueling and collection game set in the same universe as the Clash of Clans game, but uses one-on-one live multiplayer action with card-based mechanics, as seen in games like Hearthstone (currently at 40 million players with an estimated $20 million in microtransactions each month). This game is designed to incorporate things from the Clash of Clans game such as troops, arenas, and trophies in a gameplay format that greatly resembles a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA).

The game is follow-up to Clash of Clans and is by no means a Clash of Clans 2, as it is a separate game in its own right, and has a completely different team working on it. However, founding members of Clash Royale are also past members of the Clash of Clans game team, but no one who developed Clash of Clans also worked on Clash Royale simultaneously.

Currently, Clash Royale is only available for iOS in Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, and New Zealand. That is a very narrow release window for just iOS, and The International Business Times says that more countries will be added in the near future as Supercell receives feedback about the game. Currently, a search on Google Play does not reveal the game or any possible release date. Android Authority reveals that Clash Royale will no doubt hitting the Android operating system some time in the near future.

It actually doesn't make a lot of sense for Supercell to have a limited release for this game on just one mobile platform. It is possible that this is intended to build up demand for the game until it can have a worldwide release date. That way, everyone will want to play when it becomes available, everywhere.

Supercell's Clash of Clans was first released in 2013, and the free-to-play title has achieved about 1 billion in revenue. The game recently had a publicity boost with a commercial from movie star Christoph Waltz and James Corden. Players recently had an update during the holiday season that introduced Town Hall 11 and the Third Hero, and the game will most certainly receive even more updates this year to make it better and more challenging for players.
