Coming soon on ABC: Judas and Jesus

Couldn’t make it to the theatres for Passion of the Christ? Don’t fret. March 8, Monday, on ABC Television Network (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), another movie related with Jesus will be hitting your television at home: Judas and Jesus

Judas is executive-produced by multi-Emmy Award-winning writer/producer Tom Fontana (who also wrote the screenplay). Frank Desiderio, C.S.P., president of Paulist Productions and the Humanitas Prize, also serves as executive producer of the film. The film, under the Paulist Productions banner, is directed by Charles Robert Carner. Ann Wingate is the producer.

It is a spiritual awakening film, covering the two years Judas spent with Jesus. Johnathon Schaech, starring as Judas, did an excellent job in acting out the image of Judas (also known as the “betrayer”) – a disciple who walked with Jesus, later on selling Him for thirty pieces of silver.

The historical dramatization takes a unique look at an age-old story and provides a view into the heart and mind of Judas. It is the intimate story of a man who wants something from Jesus he cannot have, and who cannot accept what Jesus does offer.

The film would be a great opportunity to reflect on the cross that Jesus carried for us, meditate on the love and mercy he showed to the ones that even betrayed him, and also to reflect on our own path of faiths as well.
