With NBC unveiling the Constantine pilot episode at San Diego Comic-Con last week, many details have been revealed. Rumors from the past week have also been confirmed as well.

Constantine is set to premiere on NBC on Friday, Oct. 24 at 10pm ET.

Here is a top three lineup of what will be on the show when it premieres in the fall. As a word of warning, there will be plenty of spoilers ahead.

Constantine is a Briton Working in America

The original John Constantine from the DC Comics universe is an English working-class magician and occult detective living in London. Prior to his supernatural work, Constantine was a conman. His exploits were the subject of DC's supernatural comic franchise, Hellfire.

For the benefit of an American audience, showrunners have shifted the plot-setting to New York City. As a compromise with hardcore fans, Constantine will remain British as confirmed earlier this year by Bleeding Cool.

NBC's version of Constantine will star British actor Matt Ryan in the leading role. Ryan is better known for being the voice of Edward Kenway, the protagonist from the Assassin's Creed 4 video game.

Papa Midnite is a Major Antagonist

This Voodoo-practicing crime lord has made many appearances in old Hellfire Comics series. Even though he is against Constantine most of the time, Papa Midnite occasionally joins forces with the hero.

The TV-adaptation will feature Papa Midnite as Constantine's adversary. At this moment, it has not yet been confirmed who exactly will be playing the iconic villain in the upcoming show.

Limited Onscreen Smoking Allowed on the Show

Hellfire fans were initially worried that NBC will be following its usual no-smoking policy that does not allow actors to smoke onscreen. The trouble with the rule is that the original Constantine is a notorious chain-smoker. Luckily, the network reached a compromise with the series creators. Instead, Constantine will be shown either lighting or putting out a cigarette -- implying his habit rather than showing it.

"Here's the deal. We cannot show him inhale [cigarettes]," Constantine executive producer David S. Goyer said to Screen Rant. "Our fervent hope is that fans will see that and appreciate the attempt."
