Dairy Queens Free Ice Cream Giveaway Today March 16, Rita’s Italian Ice on Friday March 20, with Ben and Jerry’s on April 14th

One day only at Dairy Queen.
DQ isn't the only one offering a deal like this in the Spring

If you are looking for a sweet way to start your week, then you should start with some free ice cream at Dairy Queen.  In honor of the company's 75th anniversary, the company is giving away free cones of its vanilla soft serve ice cream on Monday, March 16, 2015.  It is not the only ice cream company that is giving away its product as Spring 2015 begins.

This one-day offer is only good for small cones, and it is a limit of one per customer, The free cone is good at all Dairy Queen and DQ Grill and Chill locations, according to CNN Money.  Dairy Queen has 6,400 locations in the United States, so there should hopefully be a DQ near you.

In case you are not aware, Dairy Queen is part of Warren Buffett's sprawling conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA).  If you haven't heard of Warren Buffett, he is the third richest man in America at about 63 billion dollars.  Buffett also owns other companies that you have heard of like Geico, Heinz, and Fruit of the Loom.

It can be safely assumed that the free cone on Monday is a way to get more consumers into Dairy Queen restaurants.  However, the company is also being charitable in other ways as it is raising money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which provides support for children's hospitals nationwide.

Dairy Queen isn't the only one offering a free deal on Ice Cream, according to NBCDFW.com.  After you have enjoyed your free cone from Dairy Queen on Monday, you should celebrate your Friday by heading down to a Rita's Italian Ice. The company is celebrating the first day of Spring on March 20, 2015 by giving away a cup of its Italian ice.  This tradition has gone on at Rita's for about 23 years, and it gave away 1.2 million cups of Italian ice last year alone.  Rita's has many locations on the East Coast, and some on the West Coast and Midwest, but none in the Northwest.

If you are a big Ben and Jerry's fan, and want to eat their ice cream for free, then you are going to have to wait for a month.  They will be doing a free ice cream giveaway on April 14th

So why all this free ice cream around this time of year?  In a word: Spring.  I'm sure that Ice Cream sales must go up around the summertime, and companies can afford to give some away in order to "prime the pump" for more sales as the days grow hotter.

Catch the free cone deal today only on March 16, 2016 at your local Dairy Queen, and then be certain to stop by any Rita's Italian Ice on Friday and get a free cup of Italian Ice.  Be sure to mark your calendars about one month from now on April 14th for free ice cream at Ben and Jerry's, as everyone could use a special treat around Tax Time.
