Yes, DC and Warner Brothers have their Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice premiering March 25, 2016.  However, Marvel already beat this dark superhero trend when Daredevil premiered last year on Netflix.  Then, a few months later, Jessica Jones premieres last Thanksgiving.  This March 18, Daredevil Season 2 will have its official release date, and the universe of the Marvel Defenders, which includes not only Daredevil and Jessica Jones, but Luke Cage and Iron Fist, will grow much darker before they officially team-up. 

In talking about Season 2 of Daredevil, one name always comes up.  That name is Frank Castle, better known as The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), an antihero from the comic book source material that is known for shooting criminals.  Considering that Daredevil (Charlie Cox) spent all of Season 1 struggling with not killing his enemies, it is clear that Frank Castle either doesn't have or has got past that moral issue. 

It would appear that Season 2 of Daredevil will be dealing with Matt facing a lot of moral issues, according to a recent trailer.  Not only is Matt Murdock (Daredevil's real name) going to face the Punisher, but he will also meet another woman of questionable morals, Elektra (Elodie Yung).  In the comic books, Elektra was an assassin, and also a lover of Matt. 

One thing that isn't known about Season 2 of Daredevil is how Season 1 of Jessica Jones affected it.  Besides the appearance of the "Night Nurse" Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) there has been little crossover with these shows that take place in the same Marvel Cinematic Universe. 

One thing that was definitely affected on Jessica Jones is Luke Cage.  The character of Luke Cage (Mike Colter) was flushed out so he could have his own series, which is coming in late summer or fall on Netflix. 

According to Screen Rant, Luke Cage will have Rosario Dawson, again as Claire Temple.  Besides Cage, there will be other characters introduced like the villain Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes (Mahershala Ali) and his cousin Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard). 

Once Luke Cage is done, the next up on the list is Iron Fist, which is a show that very little is known about.  The will be the fourth and final Netflix series before all four heroes meet up on The Defenders, but this is assuming that The Punisher isn't going to be so popular that Netflix will just green light a series based on the popular antihero with a skull on his chest. 

Should that happen, then DC's current "dark" trend of superhero movies with Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad will look pretty light in comparison to Marvel's dark Netflix series.
