Delirious’ recent released album “world service” continues to attract audiences worldwide, garnering the ‘Band of the Year’ award from Sweden’s sole Christian music club ‘Connection’ (equivalent to a Dove Award.) The exclusive award is Northern Europe’s only Christian award.
On the week of June 14th, the London-based band bridged Europe and U.S. together by participating in 18 live interviews over the radio and simultaneously offering performances on air from their UK-based ‘Furious?’ offices to millions of listeners on major market stations such as KLOVE and AIR-1. Performance choices of the songs came from their album ‘World Service’ including the multi-format hit single “Rain Down,” and current super hit “Majesty” which already won approval of 23 stations nationwide (including Houston’s KSBJ and Tulsa’s KXOJ.) Fan-favorites “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever” and “Deeper” were also broadcasted at special slots of the program.
Seattle’s KCMS music director Mike Tedesco noted “Radio being what it is (mostly one-way communication) we hoped the audience found the experience as special as we did… We had just set up our booth when some listeners began to arrive. We were somewhat surprised when the first thing that came out of their mouth was, ‘loved that concert this morning!’ and, ‘Delirious? rocked!’ That was just the beginning. Over the course of the next two hours we received many other unsolicited comments regarding the broadcast: ‘We drove around the block twice so we could hear it all,’ ‘I was singing out loud in my car,’ ‘my kids and I were singing together,’ ‘our family was blessed!’ etc…Sometimes we wonder if we're making any kind of difference. Having the remote scheduled the same day reminded us of the amazing impact the music has on people's lives.”
With barrier-transcending technology, Delirious truly was able to serve the world with music and spread the message of the Gospel with an influential grasp. An Ohio fan listening to The Joy FM (Sarasota, FL) remarked to the station, “Isn't digital technology absolutely amazing? It sounded like they were singing to me right here! It was awesome! …I have never heard any music station be able to do something like this. Thanks again! And what a blessing to all of us!” Co-host Bill Martin of The Joy FM’s (Sarasota, FL) Bill & Friends in the Morning, agreed, "This was one of the absolutely coolest things we've ever done in radio...our listeners were psyched!”
Dave Cruse, co-host of KSBJ in Houston’s ‘The Morning Show with Dave and Susan,’ said, “Our theme for Sharathon at KSBJ this year is ‘New Beginnings - Fresh vision for reaching Houston, the United States and the World.’ The Delirious? interviews from London were such a great example of how we fulfill that vision. Listeners in Houston loved hearing the guys live from London and we got emails from online listeners in places like Kuwait and the UK!”
Delirious has been testified by numerous fans and co-workers such as Shawn Winn, a director of Teen Mania’s Global Expeditions ministry. “Delirious? is different,” said Winn who will be working with the band on a mission trip to Juarez Mexico after the American live broadcasts. “They truly care about their fans and the ministry that takes place at their shows. This partnership is exciting because it partners one of the biggest Christian bands in the world with one of the largest teen missions agencies in the World.” The partnership will serve the Mexico’s fourth largest city. Since 1987, Global Expeditions has equipped and safely taken 40,151 teens to more than 50 countries around the globe.
Regarded as the modern day worship movement, Delirious? has sold more than 2 million albums worldwide. With international classic worship songs that leave marks in churches such as “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever,” “Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble” and “Shout to the North,” the band continues to win crowds with its message ever since its introduction in America with its Gold-selling album, “Cutting Edge” in 1998.
