With a game like Bungie's Destiny, which has players in the millions, there is demand for downloadable content (DLC) and a sequel.  Fortunately, Destiny has both, but unfortunately, fans might have to wait a while for the sequel and the DLC.  The DLC, which is slated to arrive later this year, currently does not have a name but is being worked on a lot by those at Bungie.  As for the sequel, there has been little word on that front, as Bungie is also working hard to make a follow-up to the hit game.  This is news of Destiny New Expansion DLC and Destiny 2 Release Dates. 

So far, Destiny has had three different expansions.  "The Dark Below" occurred in December of 2014 centering on the Hive race and the deity Crota.  Then, in May of 2015, "House of Wolves" was released which had new content centering on the Fallen race as players thwart a campaign by Skolas to unite the Fallen race under his rule.  "The Taken King" is the most recent release as of September 15, 2015, focusing on Oryx against a new enemy called the Taken.  Since then, there has been a lot of events, but no sign of any new DLC. 

A recent post on Bungie's news has revealed that "the team is focused on delivering a large expansion later this year".  That means that players will have to wait, which is why there is a note of "as work wraps up in the weeks ahead, look for more details about the Spring content, as well as more information about our bigger projects in the months that follow". 

It should also be noted that there is a full Destiny sequel slated for release in 2017.  By now, that is pretty common knowledge, but what will Destiny 2 actually have?  Parent Herald has reported that a source from Destiny known as Geno revealing a second sequel called Beyond Destiny, and it could be available on the Nintendo NX.  The NX is the next-generation console after Nintendo's Wii U, which is currently not a platform available for the original version of the game.  Another report states that Destiny 2 would let gamers play local and online multiplayer modes among groups at the same time. 

There have been reports that Destiny 2 would allow players to use their original version of their character from the first Destiny, which is similar to a feature in the Mass Effect series.  However, this Nintendo NX version would make that impossible unless Bungie released the first Destiny game onto the NX. 

A lot of sources, including The Express, have stated that the sequel to Destiny will be known as Beyond Destiny.  Considering that the creators have stated that they have a 10-year plan for the gaming franchise, it is strange that they settled for this title rather than Destiny 2 or some subtitle.  By calling it Beyond Destiny doesn't give much hope for a third title unless it is called Infinitely Beyond Destiny, or something. 

It does sound like the expansion DLC for Destiny will arrive before the holiday season of 2016 while Beyond Destiny is set for a 2017 release, possibly late in the year.
