Destiny Pre-Order

With Destiny coming to stores on Sept. 9, buyers will have a variety of ways to purchase the game at midnight on the day of release.

Methods range from the usual practice of lining up at onsite retailer to downloading from authorized merchants. Here is a guide to what is available at every major seller.

Best Buy

The nationwide retailer is the first to confirm a midnight event extravaganza heralding the Destiny launch. Best Buy will give away free Destiny t-shirts while supplies last. Color options include black, blue, or heather gray.

Naturally, not every Best Buy will participate in this event. So, it is essential to check with Best Buy to see which store location will remain open at the day of launch.

Also, there are plenty of offers from the Best Buy at this moment. My Best Buy members who pre-order the game will get a $10 gift card that can be used on their next purchase. Those subscribed to Best Buy's Gamers Club Unlocked will get 20 percent off on their Destiny purchase.

GameStop

GameStop is opening thousands of US stores for midnight launch event on Sept 8, it will include various activities including contests and music performances. Many stores will also have giveaway items and free samples of Cracker Jack 'D by Frito-Lay. Doors will remain open until 1:00am in most locations, but check with your local store for opening and closing times. The title will be available for pick-up at 12:01am on Sept 9.

Walmart

It may be possible for buyers to purchase Destiny through any 24-hour Walmart. However, not every store location stays open this late. While Walmart is selling Destiny pre-orders, it is impossible to confirm whether the retailer will have the game available at midnight.

Microsoft

Perhaps the easiest way to acquire Destiny faster than most people is to preload the game via console. At this time, only Xbox One owners have this option, according to the latest report from Polygon.

Interested buyers will first need to pay for a Destiny pre-order through Microsoft. Afterwards, they can download the locked version of the game on their Xbox One consoles. Destiny will then be unlocked at 12:01 am on Sept. 9.

The advantage of having this option is to be able to download the game before the release date, when download speed may be adversely affected by the high volume of online traffic. This option is only available for a limited time.
