Disney Plans Second Narnia Film, LOTR Producer Plans DVD Make

According to IGN.com, Disney is planning to film the second Narnia film, and expects the first film, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, to be a huge box-office hit. Mark Zoradi, the president of Buena Vista International which is responsible for Disney's foreign distribution, said that the next film will possibly be Prince Caspian, the second book of the series.

"In my nearly 25 years at Disney, I've never seen the company so energized so early about a film. The film will be visually stunning and emotionally breathtaking," Zoradi shared.

Having publication sales surpassing that of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings before release on the screen, the Narnia series written by C.S. Lewis is continuing to sell around 6 million copies per year.

Also, studio designer and producer Robert Burnett, who crafted such special editions as The Usual Suspects, X-Men 1.5 and X2, is currently at work on the future DVD release of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. He also has had a hand in producing the four-disc Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring DVD for New Line Cinema.

Burnett will be part of the panel discussion on July 22 at the renowned San Diego ComicCon convention called "DVD Producers 2004," along with other producers such as Charles de Lauzirika (Alien Quadrilogy, Spider-Man 2), J.M. Kenny (Footloose: SE, Troy), David Prior (Panic Room: SE, Master and Commander), and Javier Soto (Devil's Backbone, Hellboy).
