Last year, fans of the popular anime series of Dragon Ball got to live out a dream of playing in the Dragon Ball universe with Dragon Ball Xenoverse (or Dragon Ball XV).  The game involved the player creating a custom character who has to journey through time in order to stop time travelers from messing up the Dragon Ball story based on one of the most popular anime series of all time. Dragon Ball fans are going to really love that there is a sequel coming known as Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 or Dragon Ball XV 2.  This is what is known about Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 with its release date along with the news to be announced at E3 2016.

According to Just Push Start, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was just announced by Bandai Namco Games and there is already a new trailer that you can see below.  It looks like this time around the player has to protect both the past and future timelines of the Dragon Ball universe.

There is a report from Kotaku saying that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will be released this fall as a PS4 exclusive in Japan.  There are seeking communication as of today, but have not heard anything back as yet.

According to Polygon, there will be more revealed from Bandai Namco about Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 at E3 2016 in June this year.  For those that aren't in the know on video games, E3 is a huge video game convention that takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center and will take place during June 14-16 this year.

There really isn't much known about this game, other than a promise at the end of the trailer where it reads "outcomes that you wished were different".  Wait a second, does this game promise that you can go back in time and change the Dragon Ball storyline?  I realize that many believe that the Dragon Ball story is "canon", and shouldn't be messed with, but if you were given a game where you could do that, it certainly would be fun to try.

Engadget reports that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will have a brand new hub city, additional character customization options, and what can only be assumed to be more characters.  At this point, this is one of those video game series that could produce a new version every year.

As far as when the game of this year will come out, there has so far not been any revelation for the release date for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 other than "later this year".  Perhaps there will be an official release date announced at E3 2016, which could put it at a holiday release.  However, since the first game was released in February of last year, that means that an annual release date for a Dragon Ball XV game is kind of overdue.
