Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) has finally found his estranged father. He is no other than John Noble, as CBS announced the Sleepy Hollow and Fringe alumni would be joining the crime drama series as a regular for Season 4, various reports said.

In previous Elementary episodes, Sherlock father's character has been mentioned as playing a key role in his first stint in rehab. In Season 1, Sherlock's father was credited for finding Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) as his sober partner. In the upcoming Elementary Season 4, Noble's character as the rich and elder Mr. Holmes will be arriving from New York to help his son, Sherlock, overcome his latest relapse, according to TV.com.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the inclusion of Noble as Season 4 regular, show creator Robert Doherty said, "We could not be more delighted to have John Noble taking on such an important role. We've enjoyed his work for many years now - especially his tremendous run on 'Fringe' - and cannot wait to see him opposite Jonny and Lucy. It's going to be an exciting season."

Elementary Season 4 Spoilers

After enjoying a period of sobriety, the show's main character, Sherlock, was seen slipping back into drug-use in the Season 3 finale of Elementary as he was forced to join forces with his former drug dealer, Oscar (Michael Weston), to save his friend and former sponsor Alfredo (Ato Essandoh).

With the help of Watson, Detective Bell (Jon Michael Hill) and Captain Gregson (Aidan Quinn), Alfredo was rescued but the events have failed to stop Sherlock from relapsing into his drug addiction.

Elementary executive producer Robert Doherty told Entertainment Weekly that with Sherlock's latest relapse, Joan will not be there anymore to keep the younger Holmes sober in Season 4.

Doherty said, "Joan will not revert to sober companion mode. She's past that now. Yes, she can and will be helpful to Sherlock, but primarily as a friend and a partner."

One important development fans should expect in the upcoming Elementary Season 4 is whether Oscar is still alive. To recall, Sherlock gave Oscar a good beating when he found out that his former drug dealer was responsible for the death of his sister Olivia due to heroin overdose. The Season 3 finale was not clear if Oscar died because of the beating or will he appear again in Season 4.

Noble's character as Sherlock's estranged rich dad is also an interesting development for the show, said Ecumenical News. Sherlock has never spoken kindly of his father in previous episodes of Elementary. Still, it will be the second time the elder Holmes will be coming to his son's aide in times of his needs.

Elementary season 4 is expected to air on Thursday, Nov. 5, on CBS.
