Canto-pop star Eric Suen was recently baptized and is now attending church regularly, according to major media reports. Following fellow Canto-pop star Sammi Cheng’s public announcement of the changes in her life after becoming Christian, Suen also expressed his joy in being a Christian. He hopes to contribute more to the society and help the poor.

Suen pointed out that he has been exposed to Christianity for the last twenty years, but he has never been able to make the decision to follow Christ because he is afraid that he won’t be pious enough or won’t be qualified. Until recently, after speaking with Chinese-American pastor Jason Ma, Suen was able to resolve all of his concerns and worries and joyfully accepted Jesus as his savior.

Not long ago, Suen and Gigi Lai and Zhang Jin starred in the filming of a gospel film titled “We Will Rock You”, which was be released for viewing in all major theatres throughout Hong Kong during Easter this coming April. The movie is a revised version of a true story, where Suen plays a compassionate and determined social worker who gathers the homeless to play soccer and was not afraid of dirtiness and difficulties. Through this movie, the director hopes to share with the audience that a wandering soul can still return home by relying upon God, kicking away all hopelessness and darkness.

In a blog linked to the official movie site, Gigi Lai, an infamous Christian Canto-movie actress, shared that she has always wanted to do more for the church and God; however, 90% of the movies that she played in are commercial films. Thus, she feels very meaningful to be able to participate in the filming of this movie. She believes that many people will be influence by it, just as she was touched by it in the beginning.

Just like Sammi Cheng, Suen felt uncomfortable in openly sharing his testimony, but recently he is leading his friends in the entertainment circle to attend church and sharing with them the gospel. Furthermore, just like Sammi, even though he doesn’t say, the media can sense the joy from him after he came to Christ.
