ERRC Launches Summer Teaching Program

The Educational Resources and Referrals-China organization offers opportunity for volunteers to teach English in China for the summer.

Recently, the Educational Resources and Referrals-China (ERRC) organization released information for the program scheduled to be held this summer. The program offers participants the opportunity to travel abroad to teach in English in a cross-cultural setting.

Volunteer-teachers attending the trips, ERRC says, will have an opportunity to get a glimpse into the Chinese culture and talk about North American culture with local students.

For the summer program, participants will each day tutor about 20 children ages 10-16 on basic English. Afterwards, the participants will have time to bond with their students in games, sports, music, crafts, and field trips during the afternoon.

The field trips will also included visits to Guangzhou and worship in various open and international churches. The ERRC requires participants to be in relatively good health, be a proficient English-speaker, have at least one-year college education experience, and be a mature Christian possessing rudimentary teaching skills.

TESL training, ERRC says, is preferable, but all prospective participants must be committed to attending the program orientation and debriefing.
