It is no secret that Fallout 4 has been a great follow-up to the mammoth success of Fallout 3, and Bethesda, makers of the game, have recently put out a patch for the game that is designed for work on the PC first, and then for the Xbox One and PS4.  This is the news about the Fallout 4 Patch 1.3, and what it fixes and improves. 

According to CNET, Fallout 4 had a beta release of its latest update, and it has now become available to PC players.  The update is an automatic download on Steam, and it is slated to roll out for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One later this week (this is about as specific as most sources have got).  Generally, the Fallout 4 patches arrive on the PC before coming to the consoles. 

As for the effects of the patch, the new update of Fallout 4, Update 1.3, adds new PC-specific features such as ambient occlusion setting (HBAO+) as well as new debris effects for Nvidia card users.  GeForce reports that this feature can create a more realistic scene with extra depth and detail.  HBAO+ uses DirectX 11 technology developed by NVIDIA, and it can be seen in shots rendered far in the distance, as there is richer shadowing around every window and edge, as well as details like grass and foliage. The Nvidia graphics card also gives users access to some terrific weapon debris effects

It also makes some changes to the Workshop Mode.  And Digital Trends reports improved key remapping as players can remap the E, S, D and F keys in Workshop Mode, which is helpful for customization features offered exclusively on the PC.  Those that have a gamepad will also have this feature as Bethesda has added the ability to rotate the object the player is holding in the game using the left and right triggers and even pressing down on the left thumbstick to switch the rotating axis. 

There are also some bugs that have kept players from enjoying their experience in the Fallout 4 wasteland. One of them is warping to a different location when aiming, and another where a player could become "dismembered while still alive".  As someone who has never played the game, I can't help but think that this sound horrific.  Patch 1.3 also has "general memory and stability improvements" that are essentially what patches are designed to fix. 

Gamespot has a full list of Fallout 4 1.3 Patch Notes that can be seen there, and there are quite many.  In short, this is another way that Bethesda is making the wasteland world of Fallout 4 even better!  Well, at least a bit more realistic, because...it is a wasteland.
