As the Ferrari F12 Speciale reaches its final road tests, we have been seeing more spy shots of the grand tourer model lately. The Italian vehicle, also known as F12 Versione Speciale or simply Ferrari F12 GTO, has been filmed wrapped in disguise while roaming the streets in Italy.
The video, posted recently on YouTube by a user named "WorldSupercars," is not the first time that we see the upcoming Ferrari F12 GTO video in action. It has already been spied earlier this month where photos of a yellow prototype surfaced online completely disguise-free.
The Italian automaker somehow realized that it was a mistake so it now decided to cover its unreleased vehicle while testing it on the roads of Maranello. However, even with camouflage on, we can still see through some discernable details.
The one-minute clip shows that the Ferrari prototype has a revised bumper and bigger air intakes that are different from the standard F12. A prominent rear spoiler is evident along with some new air vents slightly hidden due to the heavily concealed air vents.
Other design elements are difficult to distinguish but previous leaked photos suggest that the Ferrari F12 GTO will also have a larger diffuser and new back bumper. A new front lip spoiler is also expected to be fitted on the upcoming vehicle. Meanwhile, the car's rear windscreen is also modified with what seem to be a kind of venting or intake which considerably decreased the surface area of the rear glass.
Nevertheless, the climax of the changes that this updated Ferrari model will offer perhaps lies under the hood. The F12 Speciale is said to be equipped with an upgraded V12 6.3-liter engine partnered with triple rear fenders to help it cool down. Furthermore, it is believed to get an additional 30 bhp (22 kW) for a total of 760 bhp (567 kW).
That, together with a drastic weight reduction of about 200 kg (or 441 lbs) might enable the Ferrari F12 GTO to go from 0 to 100 kph (or 0-62 mph) in less than three seconds.
Considering that an apparently production-ready yellow prototype has already been spotted, Auto Evolution predicts that there is a huge chance it will launch during the Frankfurt Motor Show. The event, officially known as the 66th International Motor Show (or Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung [IAA] in Geman) will be held in Frankfurt, Germany and will run from September 17th to 27th, 2015.
