You must be one of the many who are looking forward to the release of Final Fantasy XV that is set to happen close to the end of this month -- November 29, 2016, to be exact. In fact, the Tuesday release would probably see many people have panda eyes during the rest of the work week as they devote their time back home to the game. Having said that, Final Fantasy XV might not be released only on the Xbox One and Sony PS4, as Hajime Tabata, the director for Final Fantasy XV, did mention that he hoped to one day develop games for the recently announced Nintendo Switch. Now, the Nintendo Switch is slated for a March 2017 release, and it will definitely come with far better hardware specifications than the current generation Nintendo Wii U, so it would not be out of place if a port of Final Fantasy XV would make its way over to the Nintendo Switch, right?
Hajime Tabata himself has clearly cemented his position in the video game industry for a long, long time now. Hence, it is far from surprising to hear of his enthusiasm for the upcoming console from Nintendo that takes on a hybrid form factor -- where you will be able to bring it with you when you play outdoors, and slot it into a dock when indoors.
Tabata shared in an interview, "I'm very interested in this machine! The Nintendo Switch that you can transform into a controller, that you can put into a dock, that you can move around with, on which you can replace elements. It's been a while that I've told myself that I would like to make games on a Nintendo machine, so if the Nintendo Switch could be that opportunity, I'll be delighted!" Of course, Tabata’s enthusiasm and interest in the Nintendo Switch would naturally keep people wondering whether Final Fantasy XV would debut on the console next year, but the rumor mills have not stopped churning and will continue to do so in the future.
After all, Tabata himself did work with Nintendo in the past, where he played the role of co-director in the Nintendo 3DS title Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. Even if Final Fantasy XV were to become reality on the Nintendo Switch, it will take some time before that happens.
There is very little that we do know about Final Fantasy XV to date though, never mind that a spanking new trailer has been released. We do hope that whatever knots in our minds concerning the game would be unfurled further in the days and weeks leading up to the actual release date, but until November 29 rolls around, we will simply have to sit tight and hold on to the edge of our seats.
With Square Enix having pledged its support to the Nintendo Switch, being a third party developer, so far, they have not come up with any official announcements whatsoever that they will be developing a title, or perhaps even titles, for the Nintendo Switch hybrid console.
