Fuller House Comes To Netflix: Release Date and Teaser Trailer; Familiar Faces To Return

By Kris Rollins

Fans of the show Full House are anxiously awaiting for the spinoff, Fuller House, to come to Netflix.  On December 17, Netflix released their first official teaser trailer for the show.  The trailer opens with the same opening scenes of San Francisco viewers would be familiar with, had they watched the original Full House show.

"You know they say, 'You can't come home again?'" These lyrics from "The House That Built Me," sung by Miranda Lambert is the music that captures the tone of this trailer.

Remember Comet, the dog? Well, a Golden Retriever puppy is waiting inside the house for someone to come home.  This puppy is very reminiscent of Comet, one of the puppies in the litter that Michelle chose to keep after he was born on Uncle Jesse's bed to the dog, Minnie, who had run away and ended up at the Tanners.  Will this new puppy have Comet-like antics?

None of the cast is shown in the trailer.  We do hear the voices of DJ(Candace Cameron Bure) and Aunt Becky(Lori Loughlin), as well as Uncle Jesse(John Stamos)- who is still concerned about the hair, and Joey(Dave Coulier) doing his "Cut.it.out," quip.  Of course, it wouldn't be complete without Danny (Bob Saget).

According to E! Online, the original premise of Fuller House was going to begin with depressing tragedy, as Candace Cameron Bure's character, DJ Tanner-Fuller, would find herself a widow while expecting her third child.  It was eventually decided that this would be too heavy a beginning, so more time was allowed to pass as the non-pregnant, widowed DJ asks her best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber), as well as her sister Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) to move in and help raise her family of three. See the bridge to the old show?  Kind of a homage to the old show? In the new show, they will be adding a teenager to the house, since Kimmy is a single mom to a teenage daughter, Ramona (Soni Nicole Bringas).

With DJ Tanner-Fuller (nice segue into the title, guys!  I see what you did there!), as a single mom now, and Steve Hale(Scott Weinger), DJ's boyfriend from Full House also returning to the show, one has to wonder what the relationship between these two will be.   Will an old romance be re-kindled?  Scott Weinger has been keeping busy in the entertainment industry since being on Full House.  He is a writer and producer, having worked on episodes of black-ish, 90210, and Galavant. Weinger tweeted his excitement about being back on the show in July, with a photo of his script, "This is not a drill, people. This is happening!"
