The Great Commission Center International (GCCI) biyearly Chinese Mission Conference will be held on December 26-31, 2005. The conference theme is set as "Today’s Challenge", aiming to discuss the main issues in world mission and how missionaries can tackle them in the forefront of mission.

The six-day conference at the First Baptist Church of Menlo Park, San Francisco, is to be conducted in Cantonese and Mandarin. From December 27-30, participants will gather for Bible exposition in the morning led by Rev Johann Y. Lai, themed on "Looking at the Breakthrough in Mission through the Book of Acts".

Rev Johann Y. Lai is the Academic Director of the Overseas Theological Seminary at San Jose, California and professor of practical theology.

Bible exposition is followed by seminars which introduce four types of missionary service in four days. The guest speakers are all very prominent including the General Director of the Gospel Operation International for Chinese Christians (GOINTL) Rev Cyrus Lam, International General Secretary of the China Evangelistic Mission (CEM) Rev Calvin Chu and Pastor of the Evangelical Formosan Church (EFC) Rev. Susan Chou. After seminars, some missionaries are invited to share their mission field experience.

The afternoon programs stress on the participation of all attendants. Workshops featuring topics such as long-term mission, short-time mission, Islamic world and Asian American, are scheduled for two days. Mission counseling will be available after workshops.

In addition, for the other two days, all attendants will be divided into groups and led by experienced pastors to do prayer walk and urban mission in different regions within the San Francisco Bay Area.

The evening program is expected to be a highlight as the renowned Chinese pastor, Chairman of the GCCI, Rev Thomas Wang is going to host renewal meetings on December 27-29, looking into the lessons learnt from the history, the future of Israel as well as the future of this era. The renewal meetings are opened to all people in San Francisco.

The Editor-in-Chief of the Overseas Campus Magazine Rev So Man Feng will speak on the closing ceremony on December 30.

The GCCI believes that this Chinese Mission Conference will contribute greatly to the world mission of Chinese Churches in North America, particular in the Northwest America.
