A group of aide-workers from the World Prospect Community of Taiwan visited India, the poorest country in the world, from November 30 to December 5 in order to support the “1000 hours in Taiwan, 10000 miracles in the world” event held in Taiwan. Pop-singer, Yanzi Sun also visited the country with the group. She shared, “I am really happy I get this chance to help poor children so that they can receive a new life.” They visited four skid rows in India – the Basanti Devi Colony, Saroj Mukherjee Colony, Bagmari Colony, and Nandan Bagan Colony. There, they visited countless homeless children, and young girls accepted by the World Prospect Community hospice.

Many homeless children in India are flocking to the hospice for shelter. According to statistics, there are at least 10,000,000 children living off of the streets. It is dangerous for them to eat and sleep in the streets. Young girls are often at risk of being molested. Addressing this issue, the Prospect Community of India built the hospice intending to give shelter to the younger girls. The community also teaches the girls how to make handicrafts, sing, dance, and education on the diverse traditional Indian culture.

Ming Du, who is leading this group, shared pictures during testimony. There are 5500 skid rows in Calcutta, accounting for one third of the city’s population. There are about 4,580,000 people living in the city. It means that no less than 1,500,000 people live in the skid rows. People living in skid rows tend to earn less than one United States dollar per day. “They cannot see any hope in the skid rows so the World Prospect Community will help them to see hope through love...” There are totally one billion people in India, 375 million people of which are children. Over half of the children do not have opportunities to go to school, and run around in the streets. There are many children who have been helping through the program of “Plan of Sponsoring for children” Leader Du stated that the cities in India which they visited this time are typical of all cities containing poor children in the world. And he hoped more and more people will sponsor the World Prospect Community of Taiwan to help more children, and to construct more hospices.

Meanwhile, in Taipei The World Prospect Community and Steady Net held the “10000 hours in Taiwan, 10000 miracles in the world” event. They hope they can find sponsors for poor children in the world starting from 2 pm November 25 and ending at 6 am on January 1 of next year – in other words a total of 1000 hours.

So far, 1042 children received help. However, there is still a big gap in achieving the goal of sponsoring 10000 children. Given the urgency of the time, the World Prospect Community has expressed hopes that many people will unite to support the program. One World Prospect worker shared, “People will be happy sponsors to help children who cannot go to school or are living in street by supporting them for only $700 TW per month, giving hope to them and helping them to gain a new life!”
