Google Now On Tap Supporting More Languages, Package Tracking, Flight Info, and More For Android Marshmallow Users Only

If you know anything about Android, then you know that users really want to have the latest version of Google's Operating System (OS) on their smartphone or tablet.  This new version, Android 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) has a Google Search feature called Now on Tap.  Now on Tap is a new feature that allows users to search for related news on whatever article or subject he or she happens to be looking at right now, and it is also helpful for tracking packages and flights.  Learn more about this feature and all of its languages here. 

According to NDTV, Now on Tap triggers when you hold the home button on any device running Android 6.0 or above since there is a version 6.0.1 out there now.  Now on Tap will fetch and offer contextual information around the topic mentioned on the page you currently have opened. 

Before the update, Now on Tap provided Android users the option to check under the news tab for any topics that they searched for.  The update allows the user to be reading a news article, and users will automatically see related news articles, and there is also a share button. 

Last Tuesday, Google announced that it is updating Now on Tap to support six new languages, which include French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and Korean.  That is just a start, as the company is working on implementing even more languages. 

Engadget reports that Now on Tap can do some other things that will come in handy.  For example, if a friend sends you a flight number, then you only have to hold the home key to get that trip's status.  This also works when you get a code for a package.  Hitting the home key will get you the status and information. 

Google Inside Search discusses how Now on Tap will make the holidays a whole lot easier.  After all, if you need to pick up friends or relatives at the airport, you will have all that information On Tap.  Tracking your packages that you are expecting to send or receive for the holidays?  On Tap has your back with tracking that info.  This goes for any news stories that you will want to hear about during the holiday.  Just tap and see more information. 

There is one reported drawback as Now on Tap occasionally fails to fetch any information and sometimes offer results from previous searches.  Considering the newness of this new service, there are bound to be some bugs in it somewhere.  It's difficult to be too critical of a feature that is so new that even some of the newest Android devices don't have it as yet.
