The Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) retail value on Playstation 4 and Xbox One may have been leaked in a new video posted on social media.

On Tuesday, Sept. 9, YouTube subscriber DomisLive showed an alleged screenshot of the online Playstation store on PS4. The listed price for the remastered GTA 5 edition was $49.99. Apparently, Sony mistakenly listed the prices on the Playstation store, but removed the information once the error was discovered.

Dom also admitted that he was not able to verify the validity of the image. Curiously, the leaked photo shows Alien: Isolation costing $49.99. The majority of new games sell for nearly $60. Major retailers such as Gamestop and Amazon are selling pre-orders for Alien: Isolation for around $59.99.

The original GTA 5 was released back in 2013, but only on the older PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. In the newer version of GTA 5, Rockstar Games has rebuilt the graphics from ground up in order to take advantage of benefits offered by next-gen hardware.

For the moment, the game developer has only announced that the next-gen GTA 5 is coming this fall to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Even so, Rockstar has yet to confirm exactly when the new game will be available in stores.

This has not stopped release date rumors from circulating on the web. Recently, IGN reported that Newegg listed the new GTA 5 release date as Nov. 18. It is unclear whether the launch schedule was accidentally or intentionally leaked. At this time, the listing has disappeared from the Newegg site.

Other retailers have unofficially listed the new GTA 5 release date - all of which fall on the month of November.

GTA 5 is the latest installment of the controversial Grand Theft Auto franchise, which follows the sandbox-style of gameplay.  The overall objective of the GTA-titles has remained largely untouched, and mainly involves players stealing cars, pulling off heists, and wandering around an immersive environment.

Players can also choose to find work that is either criminal or bordering on legitimate. A variety of colorful characters dominate the storyline -- ranging from crooked cops to corrupt politicians, and ruthless mob bosses to petty lowlifes.
