GTA 6 Release Date: No Exact Time Frame Listed Yet, Calls for Patience Abound

GTA 6
There is still no concrete release date for GTA 6 from Rockstar Games as at press time, and this means you should continue to give GTA 5 as much loving as possible while you wait.

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto franchise has certainly been a huge money spinner for them, and there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for Rockstar Games to roll out annual releases of the GTA franchise, quite unlike sporting titles that require a change the team roster as players move around on transfers through the sports season. Hence, with plenty of time in between major releases, that could be another possible factor as to why each release of a Grand Theft Auto title has always been rated highly. With many gamers having had their fair share of experience with GTA 5, what about the next game in the series which will be aptly known as Grand Theft Auto 6, or GTA 6 in short? To date, there has been no concrete release date for GTA 6 mentioned just yet, although some pockets of whispers here and there have been mentioned last year. Now that we have gone past the first month of 2017, the anticipation for an official statement for GTA 6 continues to build.

VG24/7 claims that Brazil has already received “GTA 6”. However, it was later discovered that this is a shoddy job and not an official GTA 6 release, since folks in Brazil were only able to play “GTA 6” on the PlayStation 2, which is a console that lags behind by a couple of generations. The alleged “GTA 6” that debuted in Brazil was showcased on a Reddit photo, and it was basically a heavily modified version of GTA: San Andreas.

Surely news of a fake “GTA 6” will continue to spur interest in the game, and to the best of our knowledge, the actual GTA 6 remains in a pre-production stage. In other words, it is still a long, long way to go before it finally hits the market. Not only that, it has been said that Rockstar Games have not quite agreed on a particular location to base GTA 6 on.

With Rockstar Games also occupied to work on another title, Red Dead Redemption 2, slating it for an end 2017 release, this would mean that their limited resources will push the release of GTA 6 further down the calendar. To see it released in 2017 or even in the first half of 2018 would be a miracle for sure, and hence you might as well be happy knowing that there is still a long road left to go for GTA 5’s longevity.

Yan2295 is no stranger to having the inside track on Rockstar Games's upcoming titles, and shared that GTA Online updates will experience a slow down this year. In fact, it is touted that there would no longer be any more GTA Online updates when fall arrives, to make way for the Red Dead Redemption 2 launch. Rockstar Games is also touted to have reshuffled its Rockstar North workforce, with majority of its developers being sent to some of its other divisions. He further mentioned, "Well, apparently Rockstar North is 'divided in 4 parts as of right now. Some people are helping San Diego with R2D2, some people started working on the next GTA, and some people are working on another game. So you're left with only a few people to work on GTA Online."
