GTA 5 Online Ill-Gotten Gains Update; GTA 6 Release Date, Characters, Rumors

By Richard Waelty
Is this is what is in store for GTA V players?

Grand Theft Auto 6 release date remains a mystery, ever since GTA V launched in 2013. Meanwhile, Rockstar will soon unveil a new update for GTA Online. In the sections below, we will explore what we know so far.

New Ways to Spend In-Game Cash

Now that GTA V is already two-years-old, many players have accumulated a substantial fortune - virtually through illicit means. Bear in mind, the cash is not real.

There are already ways to spend that in-game currency, ranging from luxury cars to upscale property. But with the upcoming Ill-Gotten Gains update, Rockstar Games introduces more items to buy.

"Due to a surge in high-end crime across southern San Andreas, demand for luxury goods and services is at an all-time high," Rockstar writes. "Upscale merchants of all kinds are scrambling to fill their inventories to serve the newly wealthy."

Updates include new cars such as the Pegassi Osiris, which is apparently inspired by the Lamborghini design. Gamers can also cruise in either a private jet or helicopter that is painted in solid gold.

Vehicles are not the only items getting this treatment. From Ammu-nation, players can purchase the gold Combat PDW assault rifle. Ill-Gotten Gains also have hundreds of new clothing items and accessories to choose from.

Rockstar says it will release Ill-Gotten Gains sometime this summer.

No ETA for GTA VI

Since GTA III in 2001, Rockstar Games has continually released new GTA installments on the console every year. This cycle ended after Grand Theft Auto V launched in 2013. Two years later, the world has yet to receive any news about the next Grand Theft Auto videogame. Even so, there is no doubt that Rockstar is working on a sequel.

"We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do," Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies told Develop in 2013. "We don't know what GTA VI will be, but we've got some ideas."

In the years that followed, Rockstar kept quite on any development pertaining to the next GTA. With summer fast approaching and no word as of late, a GTA VI release in 2016 seems very unlikely. Master Herald pessimistically predicted a console release date in 2018 or 2019.

Still, this has not stopped fans from speculating on possible locations for Grand Theft Auto VI. In past years, Rockstar has a habit of revisiting old settings from previous title. For instance, both GTA III and GTA IV were set in Liberty City. GTA V returned to the fictional San Andreas region.

Some rumors sites have suggested that GTA VI may be set in a revamped Vice City, which is inspired by the real-life city of Miami. While it is fun to speculate on these things, all gossip must be taken with a grain of salt.
