Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India., Jan. 7 - Hindu Aikeya Vedi recently said reservation benefits should not be extended to those converted to Christianity from Hinduism. Vedi general secretary, Kummanam Rajasekheran said in a statement that the move of the christian organisations to secure reservation benefits to converted christians was to be viewed very seriously.

A meeting of scheduled caste and tribes would be held at Kottaym on February 15 to chalk out agitation plan against the move to extend reservation to converted christians, he said.

He also wanted the government to drop to plan to acquire land at Attipra here for the expansion of Technopark by evicting hindu community people residing in the area.

Rajasekheran said a major portion of the land already acquired for Technopark was laying unused and government had already acquired 4000 acres of land at Attipara for Technopark road development.

"It is not proper to evict hindu people from the area once again", he pointed out. Vedi would extend all support to the local people leading an agitation against land acquisition, he said.

As part of its agitation against the 'increased fare charge" collected from Ayyappa pilgrims by the Kerala State Transport Corporation buses, Vedi activists picketed the KSRTC depot at Pathanthitta on December 30, he said.

The Vedi's state level meeting would be held at Thrissur on January 10 and 11, he added.
