Hong Kong - A group of pro-family Christian leaders, including the leaders from the Soul Mate, the Hong Kong Church Renewal, the Hong Kong Alliance For Family, the Fellowship of Evangelical Students, the Society For Truth And Light, the Hong Kong Sex Culture Society, and the Concern Group for the Anti-Sexual Orientation Discrimination Legislation, gathered and released an open letter, appealing hard to churches to voice their stand on homosexuality.

They quoted South China Morning Post, "None of the mainstream churches, representing most of Hong Kong's Christian community, oppose the idea of a Sexual Orientation Discrimination Ordinance"(Tim Cribb's "Justice for All"), to tell how serious the situation is. In the letter to all the senior pastors, ministers, presidents and general directors of Christian organizations, they questioned,"can it represent your point of view?""Can church keep silent anymore?"

"The Sexual Orientation Discrimination Ordinance will surely bring strong strike to the religious freedom and education freedom of churches. We believe that many churches are against it, however, our society needs you to voice your stance openly."

They call upon churches and faith-based organizations to take action "from today": write to the South China Morning Post to remonstrate, pass formally a stand opposed to the Sexual Orientation Discrimination Ordinance in the church governing body and set up special concern people for this issue, express their oppinion to the government and the media, and join the Concern Group for the Anti-Sexual Orientation Discrimination Legislation which was established recently.
