The Baptist Convention of Hong Kong has organized the "Hong Kong-USA Partnership Evangelism" program in July. A 70-member delegation came from the United States for a short-term mission in Hong Kong. The program is closed with successfully with a thanksgiving evening celebration on July 31 at the Sheraton Hotel.
From July 25 to July 31, the young delegates engaged in a wide range of evangelism activities in eight local Baptist churches, including children’s summer camp, evangelism evening, street outreach and home visit among others.
On the very last day of the short-term mission, all the US delegates and members of the eight local Baptist churches gathered at the Kowloon City Baptist Church for a Joint Evangelism Meeting. In the evening, the thanksgiving celebration was held.
As the host of the thanksgiving evening celebration, the chief pastor of the Kowloon City Baptist Church Rev James M. Cheung gave the keynote address. Rev Cheung explained the significance of the "Hong Kong-USA Partnership Evangelism" program.
According to Rev Cheung, the most important significance of the program is to reveal a clearer picture of the difference between the western and eastern culture. As the western Baptists understand more about the Chinese culture, they will be able to share what the amazing work God has done for the Chinese community.
Furthermore, the partnership evangelism program has ignited the passion for the propagation of the Gospel within the frozen heart of many Hong Kong young Christians, Rev Cheung added.
The president of the partnership evangelism program from USA Doris Jackson was the moderator of the thanksgiving evening celebration. The eight local Baptist churches involved in the program have taken turns to share the evangelism ministry.
At the end of the celebration, all the USA delegates and members of the Hong Kong Baptist Church prayed and worshipped God together hands-in-hands.
