Educators from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and Beijing Normal University (BNU) held an open seminar on July 4 that shared their experiences as well as their goals for United International College (UIC), which is scheduled to open in September.

Mainland China and Hong Kong has joined together for the past eight years in projects ranging from education programs to human resources training seminars, but UIC is their first effort to open a university, which is “a pioneering collaborative project,” states Professor Zhang, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Education Department.

The seminar, which was organized by HKBU and BNU, focused on their cooperation to establish UIC, by emphasizing on their current situation, the rapid development, and the method of recruiting students.

Professor Zee Sze-yong, Director of the Division of Science and Technology at UIC

“We hope the establishment of UIC, which is a milestone in the history of Mainland higher education, will serve as role model for other collaboration projects," Professor Ng said.

UIC will be located in the city of Zhuhai, situated at the southwestern tip of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong Province.
