The shock from devastation of hurricane Katrina on the Gulf coast of United States was felt worldwide. The Hong Kong Church Renewal Movement and the Ceder Fund are currently organizing donations to assist the crisis.
From now until September 30th, the two organizations will gather donations from Chinese Christians throughout Hong Kong and contribute to the relief efforts through World Relief, organized by the National Association of Evangelicals. World Relief represents the American evangelical organizations in providing relief to the aftermath of hurricane Katrina.
On a column posted on the Hong Kong Renewal Movement website, Rev. Wu Chi Wei, senior pastor of Yuen Kei Alliance Church, compared the donation to the churches of Macedonia offering to Jerusalem in 2 Corinthians. He believes that the world churches are one body and that Hong Kong churches should concern for disasters around the world.
Rev. Wu asserted that in God’s view the relationship of giving and receiving without regards to which side being more affluent.
