The production of  House of Cards season 4 - which will air sometime in 2016 - will feature a new power couple in Washington. The younger version of Claire and Frank will soon leverage their edge to overtake the reigning leads in the White House, the Christian Post reported.

This new couple will force Frank and Claire to settle their differences so that they can face the new threat head on.

Fans who are waiting with bated breath for the new season should hold in their excitement a bit longer as Netflix's political drama is already in the thick of production, a report from the Ecumenical Post said.

Nevertheless, at this point, there is still no word out on when the official debut of House of Cards season 4 will be, save for the House of Cards' tweet using the hashtag #Underwood2016.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, House of Cards leading man Kevin Spacey, Beau Willimon, (creator), and Michael Kelly talked a lot about the dynamics between the two lead characters and how their separation plays a major part in changing the direction of how things go.

Willimon says, "A lot of the strength of the show is based on the strength of that marriage. But as soon as we began to explore that, we realized there was no turning back. We also realized we'd laid the groundwork in the previous two seasons for this conflict between Francis and Claire."

This dynamic is a very clear example of the saying "behind every powerful man is a powerful woman." The new season depicts how Frank Underwood's world falls apart when his wife Claire departs from this fragile partnership.

Beau Willimon explained to Huffington Post the motive that made Claire leave her husband. Apparently Claire feels that Frank has become an unsatisfactory better half. She feels that he is "no longer the man that she needs to fully be her complete realized self."

Meanwhile, Spacey dropped a few hints regarding his approach to controversial scenes, referring in particular to the bisexual scene.

"The only way I've been able to go about the work that I do is, I don't judge the characters that I play. I try to serve the writing the best as I can. I don't want ever to make a moral judgment about a character."

There are other interesting developments upcoming for season four, such as the addition of Neve Campbell into the cast, but the rest are mostly rumor and speculation.  

The Christian Post mentions some rumors: Frank may be assassinated; the younger version of the Underwoods might be British, and the Underwoods might decide to adopt a child to improve their image.
